Hey friends!
I hadn’t done a Friday Night Fun post or Weekend in Rewind in quite some time. It was such a nice weekend, I just had to share!
My brother was in town visiting from LA and he had not seen my kids in almost a year so they were stuck to him like glue!
Here’s an awful face swap of my daughter and bro that is so scary, she nearly cried when she saw it! LMAO!
Friday night was a good friend of mine’s bday. And she wanted to go swing dancing! Didn’t have to tell me twice!
Trés cool… Took me a bit but I started to get the hang of it. I’m signing up for lessons I loved it so much! 🙂
Wanna hear the crazy part about this place? First, it’s called Toe Jam Backlot. So it’s a weird name. Second, it’s where I went out Dec 2014 my first night out post separation and cried my damn eyes out. It was neat to reflect how I felt at that low point. Hard to believe that a year & a half later I was actually swing dancing with strangers in the same spot and having a ball! Major victory here for me.
Saturday was really special because my mom, stepfather, grandparents, siblings and kids spent the day together at the beach. Getting us all on the same schedule is close to impossible so it was meaningful to spend an entire day together. We drove down to a little beach in the Keys and then had an oceanfront dinner.
And, finally, on Sunday we did a bunch of family fun stuff with the Healthy Kids Race and playing outdoors.
It was a fabulous weekend! Hope yours was, too!
xo

Sounds like a blast! Hard to get everybody together at once like that. Makes it that much better when it happens. 😃

Sure does! Nothing like family! 🙂

We did a big family vacation a few years ago. All of us in one house. It was terrific. First time we’d all been together in years. It was great, but haven’t been able to again since. Enjoy those moments when they happen. 😃

Sounds like a beautiful time. 🙂 Best memories created during these reunions! My family truly fills me up. I know how lucky I am here. I know you do too with yours. 🙂

Absolutely. Both of our parents are getting older now, so those times are very important, ya know? We all are spread across the country so it’s not easy. Great when it works out though. 😃

Glad you guys had family time ❤

🙂 thanks! Swing dancing is sooo fun! Never thought I’d enjoy it so much since I’d grown up salsa dancing instead but it’s close enough to actually get!
And thank goodness for no crying. Surreal walking through the place. I patted myself on the back that night. Proud moment for me. I feel like I’ve come a long ways. 🙂 xo

So happy to see you had a nice time! 🙂 And I can completely understand the feeling of victory from looking back at tears 1.5 years earlier at that place. Good for you that you reclaimed that place with joy instead! xo 💜

A wonderful weekend with family & friends! And I am happy you were at that place, having a great time – that once you shed tears at. Hey, I did some swing dancing years ago and loved it – that is some fun dancing! Have a great week Athena! 🙂

Thanks! It was great! How cool that you did swing dancing and loved it as well! I can only imagine what it was like to have a live band in the roaring twenties and dancing up a storm like that! 🙂
Have a great week as well!

What a blast! Looks like a great weekend (and woohoo to being able to see how far you’ve come; the positivity in your post radiates). That FaceSwap is just too scary tho lol xx

Thanks, my friend. 🙂 And isn’t that faceswap horrific? Lol!
Btw, I’ve read your last few posts, just haven’t had a sec to thoughtfully respond regarding the mortgage options. Not that you need my advice but I’d like to read carefully and give a thoughtful contribution. Xoxo

It’s crazy what some time can do for your perspective. I’m glad to hear you’re happy – you deserve it!
I find when I go back home (I grew up in Massachusetts but moved to New Brunswick in my late 20s), I instantly feel like a kid again. It really makes visiting home feel like a vacation.
I tried a face swap with a student once. The results were horrifying.

Thanks, Dr H! Very fun weekend and it was great to reflect and realize how far is come.
Nothing like nostalgia from home to make you feel like a kid again.
And isn’t faceswap awful?!?! Omg! Lol!

I never realized how great my childhood was until I was an adult. Now I’m incredibly nostalgic and I’m always trying to recapture some little slice of that magic.

My mother used to tell us that when she was a kid she was so poor she had to eat toe jam on her toast.
I’m not sure I could go dancing at any toe jam place but I’m glad you did and got your redemption. Ah, the taste of victory!!!

LMAO! Toe jam toast… that’s hysterical! Funny how the name is gross but if you break it down as a place you dance, it kinda makes sense… and it’s funny! Lol! I certainly did my victory dance! 😉 xo

Yeah, incidentally, don’t pay attention to anything my mother tells you.

Sounds like a kick ass time :). I hope no jellyfish stung you while you were on the beach. I wish I was dodging jellyfish, no I’m not jealous, no that joke will never get old :). Woot Woot on cutting a rug and actually enjoying it this time!

I did see jellyfish though! And unfortunately there were noseums or sand fleas or something because something was biting at the kids! Saw some cool fish as well. 🙂
Joke doesn’t get old 🙂 xo

Also I’m a big fan of swing dancing, I’m fairly untrained but know a few basics. Good enough with Mona. She loves that I dance

Awesome! I think a man knowing how to dance or just willing to dance is so awesome (and sexy!)! So hard to find a man that can dance. Ugh!

My gf and I were talking about that, how there are many men out there who don’t get on the dance floor. I became one who dances around 16 (at 13 I was not, never danced at friend’s bar mitzvahs, but when sweet 16s came I was all in.) And my group of friends always went to fame clubs in our early 20s.
Mona and I danced a lot at a wedding in August. It was awesome

Hello again! Just wanted to say that since your blog glows of awesomeness, I’ve nominated you for the Sunshine blogger award! You can read all about it in my latest blog post:
Participation (writing a similar blog post) is voluntary and there is no pressure to do so. It is just a lot of fun when people decide to participate and spread the sunshine. 🙂 Anyway, congratulations, well deserved! Your friend/SurvivedNarc

I’m not sure if we’ll take a lesson before the next wedding (June 18) but we will look at some YouTube videos for some swing moves. I can fake my way through a few twirls and passes already but let’s see what else we can add to our repertoire
